Spencer Millsap is an award-winning photographer and filmmaker based in Washington state. His primary focus is on documentaries, be it environmental, cultural, or adventure travel. Millsap’s focus and expertise for years in run-and-gun style productions as producer/shooter/editor allows for flexibility, experimentation, and follow through from pitch to delivery.

Millsap’s education and experiences have taken him into the jungles of Sumatra in search of Orangutans to hunting for the earliest signs of life in Iceland’s frigid underwater fissures. Integrating experiential style storytelling and tone over traditional methods of “talking head” interviews, Millsap’s passion is to transport the viewer to distant locales through textures, details, pacing, and storytelling.

Spencer’s visual background stems from being a participant in the XXII Eddie Adams Workshop, photo intern for World Picture Network & the Obama Administration’s White House Photo Office, staff photographer for the Texas House of Representatives, and one of the first multimedia producers at National Geographic Magazine in Washington, D.C. Spencer’s work has been honored by The Webby’s Individual documentary episode category three years in a row, National Magazine Awards, and most recently as “Multimedia Producer of the Year” by the White House News Photographer’s Association.
